CREATING A CROSS-BUILDER TEMPLATE STORE FOR WEB DESIGNERS.

ThemeCanvas was a conceptual eCommerce project created during my university studies, designed to solve a real-world problem faced by website designers — the limitations of builder-specific templates. The goal was to create a platform where users could purchase and download WordPress themes, plugins, and templates that worked seamlessly across any page builder, from Elementor to Avada and Beaver Builder.

THE DESCRIPTION.

THEMECANVAS

ThemeCanvas was developed as a fresh take on digital product eCommerce for the WordPress community. The site was designed with a minimalist, developer-friendly layout and an emphasis on functionality — clean product pages, easy browsing by category or builder, and a smooth checkout process.

Each product featured detailed documentation, demo previews, and compatibility icons, giving users confidence in their purchases. The brand identity was built around creativity and flexibility, reflecting the idea that “great design should work anywhere.”

The project showcased my ability to plan an end-to-end digital experience — from concept and branding through to wireframes, mockups, and eCommerce integration — blending both design thinking and marketing strategy.

PHASE 1

RESEARCH & IDEATION

Explored gaps in the current theme marketplace and identified the demand for cross-builder flexibility among designers and freelancers.

PHASE 2

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

Created the ThemeCanvas brand identity and designed an eCommerce interface optimised for user experience and conversion.

PHASE 3

PRODUCT
STRUCTURE

Developed a categorisation system to group templates by type, builder compatibility, and use case, ensuring ease of navigation.

PHASE 4

TESTING & PRESENTATION

Produced interactive prototypes for desktop and mobile, tested user journeys, and presented the final concept for assessment.
